Transmission question

Hi Scotty

I own a 2016 Infiniti QX-50 with 26K miles.

I park in my driveway which is on a slight incline.

I was told that before backing out of my driveway, to shift the car into neutral, let it roll a few feet, and then (while moving) shift into reverse to lessen the strain on the transmission.

Is this true or am I wasting my time ?

Sincerely,

Jim Milano

You are wasting your time. Transmissions were built to shift into reverse while stopped.

I wouldn't bother, not necessary, but you are talking about a Nissan product. So if you're inclined to have less strain on the trans, use your e-brake to hold it before shifting into Reverse.

what's wrong with the regular brake?

Nothing. Just another option if he's so worried about a little incline. As someone who's had several driveways with steep incline, that's always worked
