I have a 2007 Toyota Camry SE 3.5 liter v6 Mileage 130,000. Took car in to dealer asking for a pan drop filter change and I’m sure they flushed the system when I did not want that done. Now i have shift flares from 3rd to 4th and occasionally from 4th to 5th. Only happens once when cold then clears up. I know there has been issues with this automatic transmission type U660E 6 speed with a bearing spinning loose in the case causing metallic particles to contaminate the fluid and get into the valve body. My guess is these particles or some other contamination was kicked up from the flushing and got into the valve body and now I’m having these shift flares. Can I clean this valve body, or replace the entire valve body or is there anything else that you can recommend before I end up having to replace the entire transmission. Thanks you in advance for any advise you can give me!
Modern day transmissions are super complex the only thing that you can try is this https://www.autozone.com/motor-oil-and-transmission-fluid/transmission-additive/lucas-oil-products-trans-fix-24oz/202087_0_0. If that stuff doesn't help then you gonna have make sure to baby it in those gears because other than getting another transmission there's not a lot that can be done. And don't go to the dealer for repairs they hire anyone with a pulse and rarely make quality repairs.
@jacksonishere
Thanks for your reply, unfortunately I did try using Lucas trans fix and had no change. Also I had used a max life trans fluid when I tried doing a fluid change myself. Of course I did the proper fill technique going by fluid temps. What do you think about maybe trying some sort of flush and then switching back to the WS fluid and possibly adding a friction modifier into the system? Thanks again
At this point its not going to hurt I hope that helps
