Hello I have a 2005 Toyota Matrix with 121,000 miles. Its runs fine no problems. I found out recently though that the clicking coming from the front under side of the car was because the CV axles are sitting loose in the transmission. They said it needs to be tighten but that they wouldn't fall out. The car rides fine and I don't mind the noise. Someone at a transmission place said it sounds like the transmission sleeve needs to be replaced but he wouldn't give me a price. Is this something I can just live with and continue to drive one or is this something I should get fixed? Also, would this be a relatively cheap repair or a costly one? Is it worth it to fix?
Thanks
Just as a general statement drive components that are vibrating because the bushings or bearing that hold them in place have worn out should be fixed sooner rather than later. A catastrophic failure of a CV joint could lock up a wheel or send components flying. I don't know your specifics but you should get it fixed.
I welcome all who would want to weigh in on this.
