Hi . I'm a 60 year old female. Bought a car and the seller eased all info and contact. So i'm trying to do as much as I can myself. I paid for a new steering rack because it rusted and would not hold fluid. And had an alignment. its a good car despite the issues. paid 2500 for car .
2009 honda civic lx. Automatic . Unknown miles? says 88, 000 but the lower cluster was changed and trip B SAYS 141,000.
My question...upper cluster is receiving power. Lights up but the gauges do not read. I replaced the cluster 3 times. ( not that)Then I replaced speedometer sensor.(not that) checked all fuses and relays none are blown. Reset car computer.( not that) the car had a self diagnostic feature and I did that end the upper cluster did not engage in the test. A friend checked codes and he said cluster. Do you think the a bad ground could cause this? A short does not seem possible because it lights up? Also does the wiring harness for both clusters involve any other wires ( like dome light) ? I would appreciate any advice on were or what avenue to do next?
Thank you for you time,
Diane
Call Brad ground could cause that or some other wiring short and the power but it really sounds to me like you got a clunker could have been it was a flooded car then people change all that crap out and there'll be nothing but problem until the day you get rid of it if you find evidence of flood damage inside the car I would just get rid of that as soon as possible
