Scotty, a friend of mine wants to start hot shot hailing equipment and I suggested getting a Tundra. Another driver said to get a Dodge with an Aisin transmission and Cummins engine. I said well that’s not a Dodge. For such work, would the Dodge or Toyota be the better option?

go with the dodge. they are way stronger for towing hands down but make sure you have the aisin transmission.
@Sean90 can you copy and paste your answer to the ‘Your Answer’ section down below? Thank you.
Diesel.
If he wants new, RAM 6.7 Cummins,
6.7 Powerstroke.
If he wants used,
5.9 Cummins, 7.3 Powerstroke, Duramax LBZ 6.6.
Tundra is not purpose built to haul heavy consistently and haul and haul, or any half ton for that matter. Unless your friend has an endless money supply for very short maintenance intervals.
For constant hauling, I'd get a Silverado 2500 HD Duramax diesel. Not a fan of Rams as though the Cummins engines are good, everything around them disintegrates.
