2017 Honda Ridgeline.
Mr. Kilmer, I trimming away the fight fender lining on my Honda to access the oil filter better. People been telling that dirt and grime will eventually damage the serpentine belt. My assumption is that if it on the exterior of the car then it should be durable. Can you please advise.

If you want to go to that extreme measure, might as well make it an access panel instead (I did this for my chevy fuel pump). Personally, I'd just get used to the filter location and get experience doing it and or remote locate the filter with a kit.
