Hi Scotty, been thinking of getting a V6 mustang with a standard transmission from private party, mileage around 50k. knew the standard transmission might be an issue. Heard year after 2011 model water pump is not driven by the timing chain, so between 2011 to 2017, or if the older model is better, what year would you recommend? thank you.
Since you're getting a standard transmission any of those years are fine with the non-eco boost v6 engine
The 3.7L V6 is a good engine. The water pumps do go out on them so if it hasn't been replaced, it probably will need it at some point. As for the transmission, if you're not racing it, they work fine. Between the 2011-14 or the 2015-17, that's really a matter of taste. The 15-17 are a bit more modern but a lot of people like the looks of the older one.
