Trouble with repairs on 2012 Mazda CX-9

Hello Scotty I've been watching your videos forever. Thank you for all the info and insight you have provided. My wife has a 2012 mazda cx9 awd automatic. It made it to 156k miles before ever needing anything other than fluids and tires. We had a leaking water pump and spent the ridiculous $4000+ to have it repaired. The gas station shop also recommended replacing the timing chains because it was the same labor to do both jobs in one shot. The only symptom we had was leaking coolant but now the vehicle runs like it misses from time to time. I'm almost sure it's not timed correctly from what I know. The shop won't warranty their work because they claim it's not their doing. There is no check engine light and they claim the issue is a transmission shudder. I listened to a previous video you did about not flushing transmissions only drain and refill. I only did this service myself to be sure the transmission wasn't low on fluid which it was. The problem is still there. They claim the job is under warranty for 12 months and it's only been one. How do I convince the shop to fix the motor properly? Will I need legal assistance for this issue? The shop just keeps sending us away saying it's not them.

A decent scan tool will show the engine timing. Check to see if it is correct. If it is not and they refuse to fix it, you should have a good case for small claims court.

Remind them you will tell Scotty what they have done and see if that will help. Scotty says it usually does.

If I were you, I would talk to the shop owner and tell him that you will find another shop and get a professional opinion on the issue.
