Hi scotty, I have a problem with my 2011 Alantra, A couple of mounths ago the car encountered an elk crossing the road while driving back from the coast. We survived so did the elk but the car took. a lot of damage. The right side fender, two doors and the rear quarter took most of the brunt along with the the winshieldand one window on the side. The car insurance company gave us a break and decided to raise the value of the car to compensate the repairs. The Question is: after the the accident the car alarm goes off after after driving it usually within twenty minutes of parking the car and then it will go off again one move time until you drive it again and it does this almost every time. We replaced the batteries in the remotes they didn’t seem to help. Do you have anyother options to try and is it related to the accident do you think?
just to make sure It’s a 2011 Hyundai Elantra
You might well have been better off if the insurance company totalled it. It's pretty clear that there was electrical damage to the vehicle which was not repaired. It's probably going to take a dealer level bidirectional scan tool to diagnose the problem.
we ask them not to total it due to the low milage (15,000)
Was the work guaranteed?
yes it is guaranteed
The accident might very well have caused this issue. Alarms have sensitive vibrations sensors. They need to be properly mounted and calibrated. The alarm module is spliced into the car's factory wiring, often not in a very durable way. I would take it back to the shop that did the work for followup. They just didn't catch the problem the first time.
