1998 Ford XL truck, 243,209 total miles, miles since rebuild motor transmission 238,209. My mechanic ran his meter replaced part showing bad, trust him, truck runs rough, then smooth, rough.....he thought it was a fuel problem. Suggested, gas treatment and 93 oct gas couple tanks ? Ran only one so far, your opinion ?

What model Ford truck? Ranger? F-Series? What engine? XL is a trim package.
Get a scan tool and check your fuel trims as a simple start. See if the truck is running rich (-% fuel trim) or lean (+% fuel trim). Clean your MAF sensor with MAF cleaner and clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner and go from there.
