Hi, I have a 2004 Ford Ranger XLT with 85k miles and the 4.0L V6, automatic trans and I turned on a road with 55mph speed limit and when I went to accelerate it was very sluggish and I ended up flooring the gas pedal and it took about 2 seconds to start doing anything at all. It was really the first times it has ever done that. What do you guys think?
Check your transmission.
Its not the trans. Like I had the pedal full throttle and engine wasn’t even Revving till after a couple seconds. Like the trans shifts fine.
If this is the case, check the throttle control cable. Basically, go to under the hood and try to rev up the engine via throttle body, if it works fine, you need to change the cable.
Okay thanks. I’ll test it out!
Go with the basics; air filter, clean throttle body and MAF sensor, check fuel pressure (and filter), then spark plugs. You'll find something that crapped out.
