Coolant level after flush issue

Coolant level after flush

So I compleatly drained and flushed my coolent. Upon refilling the truck will not take the full capacity of approximately 7 gallons. 28.4 qts I ran the truck with heater on full and overflow tank un-caped for over and hour. Got the temp past the half way mark on the gage but it will only take aprox. 3 gallons.. I opeded up the drain valve and new coolent does come out but at a very low volume... what am I missing please help.. sealed system no Radiator cap

you can never drain the full capacity. Drive around while watching the coolant level and your temperature gauge. Carry coolant with you. The level may drop as air comes out, in which case top it up.

Did you drain the engine block and heater core before refilling, and burp air out of the cooling system?

Completely disassemble the major parts of the cooling system, clean each major component until water comes out clear (including the heater core). Then, reassemble everything and fill it back up.
