Hey Scotty would you dispel myths or the truth about, needing to add oil in the oil filter before installing it. I have always not put oil in to a new filter, I see others filling the oil filter with oil. Is this necessary and is it true. Thanks.

Is it necessary; no. But if it's easy to do (vertically mounted filter), it won't hurt anything. No big deal either way

When I owned Chevy trucks, I always filled the filter before installing it simply because it was mounted vertically and was easy to do. I don't do it now because my vehicles have nearly horizontally mounted filters.
