Scotty, I have a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX TR turbo. I recently got this car and it worked fine a little hint of oil smell so I put in an oil catch can and oil cooler and two racing fans. I I checked for vacuum leaks, and I put a vacuum tester on it and it was all in the green, now my OBD2 blue driver is only showing a code once in a while for the extra air for startup to pass emissions, which I'm not worried about but the car has $160,000 mi on it it has no codes or in the mod6 for misfire problems or anything fuel seems to be okay, now the turbo worked fine when I first got it other than the oil smell I said but then recently it just started lagging like when it would start spooling up and I'd hit the gas to kick it in it would not go like it used to now it drives fine without using the turbo but it really lags when I start to try to use it any ideas what the issue might be and thank you very much Scotty
Odds are your wastegate is breaking on the turbo
So I did a lil reaching on wastgate, I'm new with the turbo, but I do understand the concept, and more so now. But I seem to have an internal wastgate, I wasn't sure if you meant the actuator, or if I may need to replace/rebuild the turbo? What do u suggest be the best option.
