Hi Scotty - my Dad always told me to turn off things before turning off the car - such as the A/C and radio. Are Dad's 1950's-70's car guidance 'rules' still valid? Thanks !
No.

I turn off all electrical stuff before shutting down, for one purpose :
If for some reason the battery gets low after I leave, the next time I try to start there won't be any extra power loads as I'm trying to crank.
Other than that I can't think of a good reason.
I shut off the A/C when I'm done with it. Otherwise I'll forget that it's on, and it'll run unnecessarily.
You turn off the lights when you leave a room in your house don't you?
@mmj - sounds like my Dad.
Yes.
Really no need on a modern computer-controlled car.
Dad was always right.
Dads know about being frugal and developing good habits.
Especially Dads that grew up during the Depression.
and immigrant dads
Right on, Brother.
