Hey Scotty, I have a 1999 Pontiac firebird (3.8) that’s been giving me many issues lately. We had bought it with a blown head gasket and had it fixed, but was driven after a while A little less than a year, now that I’m going to college I’ve been using it but the first issues was that I’d smell what it seems like fuel sometimes while driving and also it would have difficulty starting once the engine was hot, and after a couple of days driving it would stop on me on low rpms, say I was doing a turn so I step on the brake to slow down and make the turn and it would just shutoff on me, also it would sometimes move forward a bit even though I had my foot on the brake, keep in mind that it only has 97k miles. Then later I heard rattling, I checked with a listening device I had and that it was coming from the catalytic. We recently replaced the fuel injectors but it had the same shutting off issue, later we cut the cat (it was messed up from the inside), thinking it was blocked cat causing it to shut off. It still began to have the issues. Now I have a noisy car that I have no idea what could be causing all these issues. Please help me Scotty. (4 speed automatic)
Replace the cat first if it's rattling. Pray it's just that
