- I'm going to replace my steering rack and gearbox valve body assembly
This is for a 2012 kia sorento diesel (body shape of 2010 models)
I purchased a refurbished/remanufactured valve body from eBay china supplier.
My mechanic will install:
1. Steering rack (2nd hand)
2. Replace valve body assembly
Mechanic was telling me he is unsure if the valve body will need re-programming.
This is the eBay unit which i bought :
Valve body part number:
Aftermarket A6LF1/2/3 A6MF1/2 Valve Body with Solenoid for Hyundai Kia 6speed
1. Does this valve body require re-programming?
Do you have any suggestions or tips to share about this also?
Does anybody know why valve body replacing is a very common issue in this car?
My odometer reading: 618,000 km.
Engine is original
Gearbox has 450,000 km
This is the eBay unit which i bought :
... the mechanic just replaced the valve body. He is now arguing that the car is not going into reverse.
Buying aftermarket "refurbished" eBay parts for something critical like that is a terrible idea. It would not surprise me at all to find that the part is defective and/or a Chinese knockoff of poor quality. (I see it ships from China.)
I'm going to replace my steering rack and gearbox valve body assembly
why?
please provide the whole story if you want help please.
It should not need reprogramming
Hi the mechanic just replaced the valve body. He is now arguing that the car is not going into reverse. But all other gears work.
He is a mechanic, and not a gearbox specialist.
It is a refurbished/remanufactured valve body.
I don't know what to say.
He says there is no fault code or anything. Just won't go into reverse.
