I have the same question. My neighbor who is a welder offered to let me use his tank of nitrogen to re-pressurize my AC while I put in some fluorescent dye leak detector. I'm thinking that should work and I wouldn't be spewing all that R-134a out into the atmosphere.
FYI, this really should have been asked in your own topic instead of "hijacking" another thread. (Topic split.)
