I think it can go for another 250k miles, but I'm naturally worried cause this is my first car purchase.

That is an insane price for an 18-year-old 4Runner. Kelley Blue Book, which tends to list inflated prices, shows the typical dealer price on that vehicle to be about $9000. I'm afraid that good ol' Eddy is trying to rip you off big-time.
There are scan tool recommendations in the FAQ. Be sure to have a good mechanic give any used car you are interested in buying a thorough examination before purchase. Afterwards is too late!
