I’m looking at buying a used 2021 Lexus es 350.
It’s a lease that has been turned in. Has 9k miles total, most occurring in years 2 and 3.
Should I have any concerns about the very low mileage if it passes independent inspection?
BONUS question: it’s a TX car, serviced only in tx on the carfax, but it was serviced one time at a Lexus dealership in Chicago, seemingly during a Christmas vacation. Should I be concerned about rust w/ potential intermittent trips up north?
It would be unusual for a car to have such little mileage after 3 years but it is possible it was leased by an elderly person who did not drive much. Check Carfax for any reports of higher mileage. (That's about all that Carfax is good for. A lot is not reported to them and they are not always up to date.)
As far as rust goes checking for that that should be part of the pre-purchase inspection.
@chucktobias Thanks! Yes the carfax confirms the mileage and regular maintenance every 6 months, I assume per the lease agreement.
On the rust, could it have impact years down the line even if not visibly showing today? (I’m from the south so not familiar)
If it's not rusty now it shouldn't be a problem. A little surface rust is not a problem. If there is any perforation run away. It's only 4 years old and hasn't been driven much so I doubt it has serious rust, but have a mechanic evaluate it.
