I live in CA. I am getting both used cars (Legacy Trim 2.5i Limited with eyesight, 4 cyl TLX trim with technology package so both have latest safety features and other bells and whistles) for around $23K from different dealerships. Both cars have less than 30K miles. I value reliability and low cost of maintenance but do not want to compromise on safety since I had an 04 Toyota Camry before which got totaled.
Which car should i buy ?
P.S. Good used Camrys are very hard to find and they usually go for more than book value here in Bay area because of high demand.
Out of those two, get the Acura.
If you need AWD, get the Subaru.
Acura is more luxurious and could be more reliable but the automatic transmission are somewhat weaker but if you take care of it it should last quite a long time. I assume you don't need AWD in Los Angeles traffic. But if you do somehow need it, go ahead with the Subaru. Honestly the biggest issue with both cars are the somewhat weaker transmission but just take care of it. Neither should give you issues for 10 15 years if properly taken care of. We are talking used so have a mechanic check them out.
