I've been thinking about buying a 2002 Toyota 4Runner SR5 that I saw on CarGurus website. The website says it has 242,024 miles on it. It is a rear wheel drive. Has a 4 speed auto transmission. The dealership selling it is asking $3,995 for it. I wanted to get your opinion, before I even take a look at it.
Depending on how it was taken care of, it could be at the end of it's life. Never trust this or any other website. If you're really interested, get it checked out by a mechanic and offer them 2 grand.

With that age and mileage, I would pass unless it is well taken care of. You should have all the paper works regarding the maintenance not just by word of mouth. Also, as @Doc said, have your mechanic inspect it before purchase.
I plan to find out all the details I can, and have my mechanic check it out if/when I decide to go take a look at it. I just wanted some feedback before I even go that far.
