Hi Scotty,
My kids bought a used 2007 Cadillac Escalade from a used car dealer (I know-- bad idea 🤐 ) and paid too much for it. It has 150,000 miles on it. Within a couple of days it died at stop lights. The dealer wouldn't take it back and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it so they sent it to Cadillac. They weren't sure either, but eventually decided that changing out the battery cable for $1000 "should work". So they picked it up from Cadillac and when going just over 20 mph, it died again 😲 . Thankfully they are ok. What would you recommend?
Did they get any kind of warranty with this "stealership" purchase? If not, they are SOL. Try to have it scanned for codes and go from there. I have a feeling this is going to get ugly, quickly.
Unfortunately, no warranty. I would assume they did scan it to try to figure out what is going on. They still don't know what the problem really is, and clearly it wasn't the battery cables. Is scanning something we have to specifically request?
Probably. But if I were them, I would take it to an AutoZone or some other retailer and get it scanned for free. That will give them at least a starting point to solve this problem. Please let us know. $1000 for battery cables? Were they gold plated?
