I have a 2018 toyota tundra limited 4x4 with 77000 miles. It randomly stops running while im driving. It has no check engine light. I have taken it to the toyota dealer and i was told that it was the fuel pump so i had it replaced and it still does it. I check the battery and the terminals. At the dealer they cant find whats wrong with it. Does anyone know why it does it?

These people have had similar issues to yours.

Toyota released a technical service bulletin. Apparently a sensor that detects the percentage of ethanol can go haywire and cause the vehicle to flood out. You may need the dealership to re-flash it.

Next time the engine doesn't start, hold the throttle wide open and crank. If it's a fuel flooding issue, you will be able to tell within a couple seconds. Holding the throttle wide open while starting turns the fuel injectors off. In the old days, cars had carburetors and if you accidentally flooded it out, you could use that trick to de-flood and start it. Engineers simply carried over the stuff from analog to computers.

@justin-shepherd wow they're still having the same FF issues 20 years later eh. Still can't get it right.

Apparently so. Unusual for Toyota.

@justin-shepherd mine starts right up everytime no matter the weather outside, its only the random stalls that happens to me

Like I said, there's only limited stuff we can do from here. The 2nd thread about the truck not starting or stalling wasn’t affected by air temperature. Get a scan tool with freeze-frame capability, hook the scanner up and when it dies again, look at freeze-frame data for additional clues.

Your fuel pressure at idle should be between 38 and 44 PSI https://www.tundras.com/threads/fuel-filter-pressure.107391/

You can rent a fuel pressure guage at AutoZone. There's a Schrader valve attached to the fuel rail that you can hook the gauge up to.

If there's a fuel filter that's located outside of the fuel tank, change it.

Take the truck to an independent mechanic if all else fails.

We don't have magic crystal balls here.

Unless you're taking it in for recall work, avoid the dealership. Find a good, independent mechanic. Most dealer techs these days are basically glorified parts changers with a premium.

Under what conditions does the truck die? When you're braking, for example? If so, the brakes operate based partially on engine vacuum with a power brake booster. If it dies when you press on the brakes, you have a massive vacuum leak that only occurs when you brake, and the engine typically doesn't trip the check engine light because it's too sudden and only happens when you brake.

The first 2 times have been while accelerating at a traffic light and the 3rd time was while cruising around 40mph.

What is your engine size? You neglected to mention it.

Unfortunately no. The first 2 times have been while accelerating at a traffic light and the 3rd time was while cruising around 40mph.

@tundra18 Also whether or not your vehicle is flex-fuel capable or not.

Its a 5.7L V8 Flex Fuel. With the engine model

I assume you mean it looses all power including all electrical power as if the switch was off?  If that is the case I would look for grounding issues or ignition push button issues..
