What does '' a cammed V8" mean?
It means a V8 that has had its camshaft (and hopefully other supporting components) replaced for a higher performance one.
I believe that is referring to modifying an engine's camshaft profile by replacing it with a new cam(s) that is/are different (more HP) from the factory OEM equipment.
With modern vehicle computer systems, you can also alter the sound of a stock engine to 'sound' like a cammed engine.
It's called a 'ghost cam tune' that will alter your engine's timing to sound like a higher performance camshaft was installed.
Although I don't think it's a good idea to do.
The camshaft drives the valves. As they turn, the shape of each "lobe" on the camshaft determines how the valve opens and closes, which changes how the engine behaves. People use different camshafts to tune the engine for various purposed. You may also hear terms like "hot" being used to describe camshafts. Usually people are try to extract more HP and the cost of some efficiency. A "cammed" engine has a camshaft that is not factory installed.
