What could be causing my car to be difficult to start at first ignition during a warm start?
the car starts fine during cold starts eg first thing in the morning, but after a short 2km 5min drive, turn off the car, then restart it again 10mins later is only successful at second ignition attempt because first crank seems like the engine hesitates to start I.e. relatively slow engine crank
no other issues, the 1.5l ivtec engine is very smooth otherwise while cold starts are fine
car’s
Year-Make-Model, 2009 Honda city (Malaysia market)
mileage 71000km, oil changed every 5000 or /yr
5spd automatic
The fuel injectors might be dirty and they do not have proper flow (conical shape), instead they might drip and provide more fuel to the engine. This might be the issue for starting a warm engine because a warm engine needs less fuel. Cleaning the injectors could solve the issue.
Many thanks yaser
You're welcome. Keep us posted.
Turns out the starter motor needed changing, bought a used one online and the engine cranks a lot better now
Thanks for the support though!
Unable to crank period? The starter probably had a heat shield which fell off & now it gets heat soak.
