I took my Honda Element to get the serpentine belt replaced. I asked that they do a valve adjustment as it is a 2009 and has 101,000 miles on it. They told it does not need it unless it was making noise. I thought it is considered routine maintenance. Are they correct? I believe an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I see where people are getting 200-300 thousand miles on these cars and I would like to join that club.

Your owner's manual probably has something about adjusting valves, and tge recommended mileage interval.
