😀 In my 2006 Ford Explorer with 146k miles I believe my valve cover gaskets are starting to leak...any tips on doing this or is it worth it. How long can I wait till they are for sure needing to be replaced?

valve covers are easy. Pick a nice day and git 'er done.

I don’t know on your specific vehicle.

I did them in a Honda Accord 1999 and had them done on a 2007 X5.

If it’s as easy as the Accord, I say go for it. If it’s a PITA like the X5, it may cost you an arm and a leg. Or a bunch of time.

I imagine in a Ford it is relatively on the simpler side. Hope someone has first hand knowledge of it here.

If they're just seeping a little, you could wait. If you can smell oil smoldering as it drips onto the exhaust manifold, you should replace them now.
