I am about to own a 1999 Lexus 3000es with around 450,000miles (could it be km?). I need to know what I should do to keep this beautiful car going. How often should I do oil changes? The body appears to be pristine so how should I maintain it? How often should I do a highway run? I use my vehicle to get my dogs to the beach a couple of times a day so I don't normally put more than 7000k a year on my cars. My last car was a 2001 grand prix gt which I won. I only had 167000km on it but the body gave out. I live in a salty city. Any advice will be appreciated.
The car you considered is old as the hills and the mileage is high (either if you consider km). So many things can go wrong and being a Lexus, parts are not cheap. Labor is another story. Anyway, I would not consider it as a daily driver, maybe just a weekend toy if you also have free time to work on it.
I don't need this car to last forever, just for right now, but, I would like its remaining time left to be as rust-free and problem-free as possible. My daily driving is completely removed from an ideal drive for a car, i.e., highway driving. I go 2k to the dog park. I'm trying to convince the car that its life hasn't changed and it should just continue on as it has been doing, adding mileage to the odometer. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Even if kilometers it would be 280,000km which is a lot the es300 is based on a Camry I would consider looking into a lower mileage Camry.
my query about miles vs km was me wondering which would be used on this car. Logic prevails that 450,000 miles would be an award-winning car. My grand prix was km only, so perhaps it can be switched between the two. Not an important issue, I will have the car tomorrow, so I can look for myself.
