Hey Scotty I just bought a 2017 Toyota Yaris ia for 13k at a dealership with 100k miles on it. The cap for the oil says put 0w-20 oil in it but I read online and in other countries like Japan they put 5w-20 or 5-30 in the same car. Should I put 5w-20 oil in mines since they do it in Japan or should I put 0w-20 oil in it? Also is there any 100k maintenance I should do to my car?
You might want to use the site search function as this kind of question has been asked a lot here.
The short answer is to stick with the manufacturer's specification. Your owner's manual should detail what oils are acceptable. (The "same car" in Japan may have internal engine differences due to the different oil viscosity specified for that market.)
See your owner's manual and the maintenance section of the FAQ for maintenance details.

5w-20 or 5-30 in the same car
If you run a 5-weight cold oil in an engine that was designed with 0-weight oil in mind, you will wear the engine out faster during start-up, because the cold 5-weight oil is slightly more viscous than the cold 0-weight oil. When the oil is at operating temperature, and you choose a 30-weight oil when there should be a 20-weight oil, you'll also wear the engine out faster. The 30-weight oil is more viscous and it takes longer to lubricate parts.
Also, auto manufacturers frequently offer slightly different engines in vehicles that are being sold in Japan or wherever else vs the US, etc. Not many people who aren't familiar with cars knows that. That means you can't always trust what you read on the internet. Trust the oil cap on the car, not the internet.
