How do I check my oil level

2002 V6 Camry. (1mz-fe) Manual Transmission. 381,000km

So while I was changing the Engine Oil, I left the drain plug purposely unplugged to get every last drip. Then proceeded to get the tough OIL filter off, after much trying like half hour, I got it off and immediately poured in 2 Litres of OIL and then realised there was puddle of oil on the floor. So plugged in the drain plug. and now I had poured in a fresh 2 litre. plus 1.7 Litres so about 3.7 Litres or so after plugging in the drain plug.

I've check the dipstick and it look like it's just at the bottom of the meter of the dipstick.

Now I plan to pour and check the dipstick and maybe start the car for 30 secs. And see if the flow has gone into the engine oil filter.

I really don't know how much oil is in there from the oil that flowed out and the oil filter needs oil too. 4.7Litre it requires in book.

So with requiring the oil to go in the engine oil filter and I don't want to Overfill. I plan to pour in 100ml in at a time and check. Then about medium or higher up the meter..on the dipstick. I'll start the car for 30 seconds to check how much oil is there..

Is this the only way to fill and check without overfilling?

Just put in enough oil to where it's full on the dipstick, run the engine so the oil filter fills up, recheck dipstick and add more as needed.

you are overthinking.

add small amounts until the level is near the top of the range on the dipstick. Do not start the car until then it will only make the process longer. Don't worry about the filter it's negligible or just prefill it.

Check the level again after your next trip to make sure you did it right.
