2015 Toyota Tacoma 6cyl 39,000 miles. Scotty, I will not be driving this veh in the winter and want to know if it would be alright to remove the Battery from the vehicle and put the battery in the garage on a trickle charge? Will removing the battery from the veh for 6 months do any harm to the veh.? I realize that I will have to reset the radio and the clock but as long as those are the only issues, I would rather remove the battery from the veh to prevent a power surge or winter weather getting to the vehicles computer systems.

Having lived in New Bedford, Fall River and Lowell, for a decade, I know what an ongoing trial Massachusetts winters can be. (The worst of winter-like weather usually started after the New Year and often seemed to last through the end of April).

As for the disconnection of the battery: There are going to be some other issues. For example, the learned values on idle, transmission shift points and the like will go back to factory default. (To make this a bit less painful on the idle, clean the throttle body and the MAF sensor, which will simulate a "new condition" to the ECM, more closely). Don't be surprised if the Taco runs and shifts a bit rough, for a few days, in the Spring.

If you have some aftermarket electronics, it's a "known unknown" to see how disconnecting and reconnecting will affect them (depending on the specifics of the aftermarket wiring).

Finally, it would also be good practice to use a round terminal brush to clean the clamps and the posts. Other than these things, I believe the vehicle should be good.

Well thank you New Bedford for this info. I live on long island, New York and we spent much time in New Bedford as my wifes relatives are from there. There last name was Lavallee and they were a big part of that community. Well thanks again for the Info.
