I have a 2016 Corolla with 74,000 miles. For the past 2 years, when the weather grows colder, there is a creaking noise coming from the passenger side suspension. This happens when I hit even the slightest bump or frost heave. I live in MA, and with the cold weather fast approaching the creaking will grow louder.
I have taken the car to the dealer twice, and they have found nothing. I have also, taken the car to 2 indy mechanics, and they claimed to have found nothing wrong as well.
I suspect the dealer wants to find nothing wrong with the car because there is an extended warranty, and they would have to fix it without cost to me.
I want this mystery solved, as I don't want to be left stranded, with what has otherwise been, a reliable vehicle.
Thanks
Gordon
There is nothing wrong with your vehicle. It is quite common for vehicles to start squeaking when it gets cold. Get some at205 and spray on your bushings. It will make the sound go away.
Rubber bushings can definitely creak when they get cold, especially as the rubber ages.
AT-205 does a surprisingly good job of quieting bushings. I have a 50-year-old station wagon with rear suspension bushings that creak and squeak even in warm weather. Used to be I'd spray them with some silicone lube and that would quiet them for maybe a few days. Tried spraying them with some AT-205 back in the spring and those half-century old bushings are still quiet. (Yes, I know they need to be replaced but the car isn't used much and I haven't had time. I already rebuilt the front suspension so no noises from that end of the car.)
