I know that for the most part Volkswagens aren't that great cars but I was wondering if any of the newer ones were decent buys because my local Volkswagen dealer is having a really good deal on the new model cars and I'm wondering if I should take advantage of it.
Consider this: Prices for cars, new and used, generally, are up at least 20 percent over the last few months. Car lots are notably sparsely filled with vehicles.
Yet, the VW people, apparently, can't sell their vehicles without a sale? Why? The reliability isn't there (like Nissan) and the total cost of ownership is high (repairs, insurance, etc).
Think about the inability to move vehicles in the midst of shortages. What does that say about VW?
Don’t fall for it..
Don't bite the bait. There is a reason they are offering deals.
Like Scotty has said, if you want one lease it. That way the maintenance is taken care of. Drive it. Enjoy it. And Get it out of your system when the lease is up.
Don’t even think about it.
The newer ones are actually even worse than the older ones. Don't take the bait.
They're nice to drive, unless you're planing on keeping it after 100,000 miles after that they really fall apart.
(I love VW products, there's noting like a SEAT LEON FR COUPE /or the LEON CUPRA
but the truth is that the quality is terrible.
DSG mechatronic units fail even before 40k miles and clutch failures are common around 60k-70k and lets not get started on timing chains snapping and the cooling system corrosion issues...
there's just a lack of reliability once the car ages or has any serious mileage)
Cause who else engineers this short of weird and yet elegant solutions (of it both being a liftgate and a sedan). I personally love these quirks.
I went inside the new ones and was surprised on how it felt cheaper than a corolla, even though it carries a way heftier price tag. They are so not the way they once were in the 90s. DO NOT get the new golf's.
No. Let someone else get sucked in by 0% deposit or 0% interest or whatever dusty scheme they are running now.
FYI for everyone, VW quality in Europe has gone down the pipe in the last 7-10 years also.
Never get the Volkswagen because it looks cheap inside and the reliability is even worse than Nissan.
