Hello I have a 96 850 Volvo and unfortunately live in CA. It has its check engine light on but the engine is good and sometimes the ABS light goes on. Have had it checked out and all good. But I have to get a smog and our smog guy says automatic fail with any light on. Is there a way to turn off these lights. Or should I take to dealer to have them reset? It still runs and is a good basic car to get around town.
From what I remember you don't need no scanner on these older Volvos,

Read the codes as the instructions as the bottom of the page show, and if it's not something that you choose to fix, reset it using the instructions they have there.
Do this at your own risk.
02 sensor is possible or a plugged catalytic converter. ABS light could be faulty sensor.
