- Hey Scotty, chiming in from Toronto. I was wondering why my 2013 Honda CR-V with about 135,000 kms has a rattling noise on cold start 90% of the time. I have read that it was a problem with the VTC Actuator. Took it to a mechanic who ended up changing it along with the timing chain and related parts. Picked it up and the next day I heard the rattle again $960 later. Has the actuator been updated with a design that solves the problem or is this part still designed poorly. Or is it possible that the valves need adjustment. It does seem like the chain was stretched but should I not expect the problem to have been addressed and should I pay more money to this mechanic to now adjust the valves? ☹️

Weather got ripped you off I demand my money but I could probably needs a new timing chain
Thanks for your time Scotty but I have changed the chain, guides, tensioner and actuator. I am wondering if the part was updated. The mechanic told me that he wants to adjust the valves but I still think the actuator is the problem. It seems to make noise more consistently. I am surely not paying anymore money to fix the problem with this mechanic.
