Dear Scotty, I have a 2009 Toyota Matrix with the 1.8 liter and everything is working great except the vvti rattles loudly on cold starts. Once the oil circulates it runs fine. Is there a point where it will eventually fail or is it simply an annoyance? Thanks

Well everything breaks eventually but I've seen those rattle for years

It will eventually fail with very expensive consequences if it's not fixed.
