2004 VW Toureag, V6, Automatic 4wd 105k miles

Bought this from my friend for like 2k. Has 105k miles. Paint and body great shape.
Anyways noticed the back doors and trunk do not open. Neither does the door for the gas. The two buttons on driver door aren't working for trunk and gas door.
And when I press the unlock and lock button by the interior door handle to lock and unlock doors I do not hear it engage the back doors or trunk.
I checked every single fuse. They are all fine.
Wondering what usually makes these stop working. And how I would go about fixing it.

be extremely careful buying things from family and friends with large price tags. It can damage your relationships.

could be many things. broken/corroded wires, worn out mechanical linkage
back doors and trunk do not open.
"open" or "unlock"?
Somebody needs to do troubleshooting /investigation.

It's a 22-year-old Volkswagen, that's reason enough for such problems. Didn't you have this car checked out by a mechanic before you bought it?
And how I would go about fixing it.
After more than 20 years it's time to get out the multimeter and wiring diagram to check for electrical problems.
