VW Fox Wagon Starter Question

Hallo, Sometimes when I start the Fox it will start/turn over a tiny bit/hesitate (fraction of a second) then starts. Its usually when its sat for an extended period of time like lets say overnight or several hours.
Once it does start it runs and starts the entire day the majority of time.
No odd noises.
The only thing I thought was a possible dead spot on the starter armature? What do I know?!
Thoughts, suggestions, impressions appreciated.
Thank You ver much...

Check battery voltage at idle and stopped.  Should be around 12.5 when stopped and 14.5 at idle.  If not, your alternator is suspect.  If OK, check for a parasitic drain as per Scotty's video.  If battery and alternator are OK, look for a new starter.  Get one with a limited lifetime warranty if you can.

Thank You! the battery is less than a year old. The stopped volt is 12.75 and idle 14.02. Measured using a Innova model 3300a VOM.
What about dead spots? possible symptoms?
Keep in mind this is 1990 VW Fox wagon. Not much in it for significant parasitic drain that I know of and I've owned 3 of these wagons..one in storage.
