So I bought a VW 2020 Atlas Cross Sport 3.6L V6 last year. I know I know! I bought this before finding your channel lol, so hopefully it doesn't go down the tank too fast.
Anyways, I've never owned a VW before and I'm about to change the oil. Cap says to use 0W-30 and to also use an approved VW 504.00 oil. Of course it's difficult to find an approved VW 504.00 oil here. Is it ok to use any 0W-30, I usually use Mobil 1 products.

If you want to use VW oil you could start by getting it from the dealership.

both mobil 1 and liquimoly would be good for german cars pls dont do it at 10- 15k, 5k is enough
Yes, I highly recommend the Liqui Moly oil for European cars. I only use Liqui Moly in my BMW.

I believe the Mobil 1 European formula has a VW approval, as does any European formulated oil. Always look on the back of the bottle for the approvals.

The VW 504 spec (gasoline engines) is the latest VW spec for long drain intervals. Mobil 1 ESP 0W30 and 5W30 has this approval according to their website. But not every "Euro oil" in the US has this approval.
Here in Europe we have several oil classes, and evan if some of these overlap, there are generally about five different classes in use. The main difference is in viscosity (for fuel economy) and additives (compability to DPF, catalysts etc) and drain intervals. The "Euro oils" in the US seem to be based on the ACEA C3 class.
The brand it self should not matter when chosing an engine oil, it is the specifications/approvals that are important.
If you can't find an oil with the VW 504 approval, it's definitely better to chose an "Euro oil" than any 0W30 oil.

We all know VW’s have issues later. With that said you can lookup different oils , Castrol and Mobile1 meet it. 0W-30 is hard to find in my area on the shelf but I can order it online or have any Auto Parts store get it in. If you do it yourself make sure you keep your receipts, make sure you do it before or on your mileage marks for service. If anything happens to your engine during its warranty period some dealers will do whatever they can get out of covering your engine under warranty. If you use anything “not approved” or maybe go a little late on a change or two they can use that as an excuse to void your warranty. Especially if you don’t have receipts showing you did them.
