I've seen how this ends and it is ugly. Either buy an intake made for your car, or don't do an intake. Surely don't "cut to fit" one. I have to fix these rigged intakes all the time.

Just watch this before you start in:

Yeah I definitely agree, using an intake system on an engine that it wasn't designed for can cause lots of problems. If the intake piping diameter is not correct, it will throw off the MAF readings and will make the engine run worse. The MAF just cares about a certain amount air flow, but if the pipe is bigger than normal then the engine will get too much air eventhough the MAF readings may look normal. Same thing for a smaller pipe. There's a ton of engineering that goes into the intake system...you can't just modify it however you want.

where other than ebay / amazon can i find a short air intake pipe? i can find any budget ones on canadian amazon

and what do you think of this ? https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00029X05G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

@Razmig Bartassian As usual, you understand the issue. Well said. I was just too tired to type it all out tonight my friend. Lol.

@jebrim You do know that short ram air intakes have been proven to make your car run worse, right? They suck in hot air from under the hood instead of cold air brought in via ducting into an enclosed box. Your IAT's (Internal Ambient Temperature) are going to look like crap and be elevated, especially in traffic. Hotter air = less power.

yea true but unfortunately i live in canada with cold air intake may cause hydrolocking :/ i mainly want to put it for the sound

any suggestions?

@jebrim
You actually want cooler air if you want more power. Cooler air is more dense, denser air has more oxygen molecules in the same volume, and the more oxygen gives a better combustion. When it comes to short ram intakes, you're basically giving up cooler air for MORE air, which doesn't really help for NA engines. Short ram intakes are more useful for turbocharged applications since they need free flowing air and already have an intercooler to cool down the hot air. In my opinion, just stick with the factory system to maintain your optimal power output. Hydrolocking can be somewhat addressed with a hydroshield that goes over the filter (it won't completely prevent water from getting in but it does help).

I completely agree. @jebrim mentioned about possible problems with the ECU. One way to not have any problems with the ECU is to leave things how they are.
