VW sunroof glass exploding

I have a 2021 VW Jetta SE model, I was driving threw a rural highway with no one around me when my front panel glass right above my windshield exploded spontaneously shattering the glass entirely, part number #17A8770559B9, I'm trying to get it covered under factory warranty, I was told buy a VW customer care representative that a VW enginer or quality control representative would have to examine the glass, the dealership was trying to reject my request immediately, after putting pressure on them they submitted a warranty claim, I'm currently waiting for a response, the glass cost 895$ MSRP, the car was manufactured in Mexico, the car only has 18,000 miles, I read an article online stating that other people have experienced the same issue and tried filling a lawsuit with a federal judge against VW years back for the same issue. The service advisor at my local dealership said the glass exploded because of the pressure inside the cabin.

Do you think their should be a recall for the glass? Do you think it should be covered under factory warranty? If they deny the warranty factory claim, should I lawyer up and submit a product liability claim against VW?

Do you think their should be a recall for the glass?

First, have you checked for recalls? Maybe there already is one. (see our FAQ page to find out how)

"Audi and Volkswagen have issued sunroof recalls without NHTSA first opening an investigation, Audi for its 2012 Q5 and the 2013 - 2014 A8 and S8, and Volkswagen for its 2013 - 2015 Beetle."

Second, is there anything to recall. Do you have any idea what caused it? Clues or evidence? Was there a defect in manufacturing? Or did a rock bounce up and land on your sunroof on the highway, or fall off your garage door? Was there debris in the sunroof track? Vandalism? How can you possibly make that judgment call without all the information? There are many ways this can happen.

Do you think it should be covered under factory warranty?

Again, it depends how it happened. Warranty should not cover people following gravel trucks on the highway.

You're going to need a lot of evidence. And it's going to cost a lot of money. Is it worth it?

If you want to protect yourself, then buy a good quality vehicle. Not VW which has been junk for a while now.

"Some automakers like Volvo and Tesla have begun using only laminated glass in their sunroofs. Other manufacturers, including Ford, Honda, Nissan, and Subaru, are using laminated sunroof glass in some models. Drivers should ask the dealer before purchasing a vehicle"
