Hey Scotty,
I was at Wally World looking to but some oil for my 03 Ody. I saw the Walmart brand oil and was thinking about buying some for the van but then wondered if it was worth the lower cost. Granted, the van does have 219k miles but she still runs well.
How does the Walmart brand oil stack up against the likes of Mobile One etc. FYi; I ended up purchasing some Penzoil instead!
You're awesome, thanks!!
Well walmart doesn't make oil, they just take someone else's and sticks their label onto it at a lower price.
As long as it has a API certification it's pretty much fine, especially for an older vehicle.
Perhaps not so much for the synth stuff but I was once told that the regular oil they sold had paraffin in it or that it was recycled stuff like from SafeyKleen?
I havent personally had a issue with it. On a car with that high miles I wouldn't think twice
Walmart is a reseller. They are not ones to manufacture their own products. Someone makes it and private labels it for them. Look at the API certification on the oil and insure it meets the standards required for your vehicle....
I use their house brand oil in my 66 Cadillac Coupe DeVille with no issues.
My advice? Enjoy the savings....
Walmart synthetic and Costco synthetic are made by the same company. It's good oil. Lots of people use it with zero issues, and they have Dexos approval for modern GM cars.
Amazon Synthetic is the same also
