Hello,
I am interesting on learning how to drive a car with a manual transmission some time in the nearby future. I wanted to ask what are some good options car wise to learn as a beginner, should I buy a little spare car in which I could practice or maybe practice from someone else's car? I know the car market is still up there but wanted some input. Thank you!
I would go rent a car with a manual trans and just go for it. You should be able to get proficient in a short period of time, less than a day. With a manual, you drive by feel and develop muscle memory as you go through coordinating the clutch, gear shift and accelerator. Good luck and enjoy a real driver involved experience.
The only way to rent a manual car in the United States is to use Turo, so be careful.
Rent a cheap econobox like @doc suggested and find yourself a massive empty parking lot.
PS. Don’t forget to get the insurance, in case things go pear shaped..
@venator77 is right. Options for a rental are limited.
FYI: the Honda manuals are maybe the easiest to learn on.
