Wanting to upgrade to Toyota Tundra...

I've been seriously thinking lately about upgrading to a 2007-2013 Toyota Tundra 4wd. I really like that particular body style, and I know how reliable Toyotas can be. I also know that I want the 5.7L v8 rather than the 4.7L, since the 4.7 has a timing belt vs the 5.7s chain, and obviously the 5.7 has significantly more power. I also know that I want the crew max instead of the smaller 4-door cab.

My question going into my search: is there anything in particular I need to know about these trucks when looking, common issues etc. Also, am I right that the 5.7 is the one that has the starter under the intake?

Thanks!

make sure you let a mechanic inspect it first and find everything that's wrong with it.

5.7L i-FORCE V8

425 miles per day, every day, on average 😮

that's pretty insane. have to be living in that truck. really cool to see one go that far tho

A lot of the Toyota V8s have the starter under the intake manifold, so even though they last a long time, be prepared for an hours long job or paying for a lot of labor when it eventually does wear out. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the 4.7 is not under the intake while the 5.7 is.
