2018 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7Hemi.
For two years it’s been in an out of the dealership for mystery “ticking” exhaust noise on startup. Each time they told me “ we don’t hear anything abnormal”. I’d even leave it there over night and tell them to roll the windows down before startup in order to hear the noise. After 6 separate visits and $400+ in labour I gave up.
Last week the nosie got much worse so i went back - this time however the Dodge factory warranty is over. Surprise Surprise they were able to diagnose the issue. Several exhaust header bolts broken/missing. $1600+ to replace the exhaust manifold gasket, machine the exhaust header, tap/die new bolts etc etc.
The only reason I can think of for this is Beethoven must be their mechanic OR the don’t want to do warranty repairs.
What’s the deal with warranty work at the dealership? Do they lose money or just not like doing it?
What are your thoughts Scotty?

that's pretty slimy.
But if you have records that you complained about the problem within warranty, then you have a good case. Call the RAM national customer support 800 number and complain.
