Dear Scotty is it a good idea to wash my cars(2006 is350) engine area

Not unless you really like your car electrician AND constantly stare at the engine bay.
They way I do it on my car if I want my engine bay to be clean (for an unknown reason):
Wait under it's cold, and carefully wipe surfaces that are visible a moist microfiber cloth -
without touching anything that's not a useless beauty cover.
Being an '06 Lexus everything is covered by them so it's probably alright.
And yet still with a 16 year old, possibly 16 year old belts and wiring - you're always at a risk of ruining something.
