Scotty. I have a 2005 scion tc with 106,000 miles. I’m about to do a coolant flush and i was wondering if I should change the water pump even though there are no leaks and no noise from the water pump pulley. What do you recommend?
Nope!
The current one is working fine. Who know what you'll get if you gamble on a replacement.
Thats true
Carefully rotate the pulley by hand to feel for any roughness, and pull on it to see if there is any play. If it's still good it's hard to beat the quality of that OEM Toyota part - aftermarket can be a real crap shoot and new OEM pump from the dealer would likely cost a fortune.
If you want, I mean since you’re doing the coolant if it were me with that mileage I’d do it just because the coolant would be drained out already. But with it being of Toyota quality who knows. That water pump could last as long as the vehicle.
Exactly what i was thinking. Do all the work at once but at the same time its a toyota part. Hasn’t failed
@serquin30 up to you what you wanna do.
One of the benefits of that coolant flush is that it will help your water pump last longer. I bet that pump has another hundred thousand miles in it.
