We're trying to buy a used vehicle and we're stuck between Lexus 2008 RX350 with 215 000 km on it (we're in Canada) 1 owner and well maintained

or...

2015 Kia Sorento fully loaded with 193 000 km on it. AWD and 1 year warranty
Both sold by a dealership and same price 10 000 (Canadian).

Definitely the 2008 Lexus RX350:  see comments below on reliability, but basically pretty solid.  But please make sure it had an excellent service history (engine oil and transmission fluid changed regularly) and make sure an independent, honest mechanic like Scotty can hook up his fancy scan tool, road test the vehicle, and analyze all the data (especially engine and transmission), and gives the OK first.  Even Toyota/Lexus products will not last if not well taken care of previously.

The 2008 RX350 was in the bad generation as they had some problems during this time including timing chain issues(at higher milage) and power steering among others. But then you take a look at the Kia and they are known for catastrophic engine failers throughout all generations and years... So you either gamble with a kia and hope it breaks to get a new engine, or try and ride it out in the lexus. That being said, I would still trust the lexus over the Kia. For the price at the dealer at that. I would get a private inspection done on whichever car you pick regardless of the pretty words the dealer says. Who knows if it was actually well maintained without seeing the paperwork ya know.

Well both aren’t too great, but the RX350 is much better.

almsot 200k km for a Kia is just way too high (I wouldn’t consider one with over even 120k km) but as BruceREE pointed out the RX of that generation is also kinda prone to having issues.
