Hey scotty, I have your all time favorite car, the Alfa Romeo 159 with a 1.9 diesel engine with 150 hp. Its a manual transmission, fwd love machine. Rides like a dream, looks like one also. But there is this strange thing about it, it sometimes just wont rev over 3000 rpm. I took it to two mechanics and they couldnt figure it out. Pulls strong goes well, but just cuts out at 3k. Like its limited or something. Nothing rumbles stutters or jerks. Other times its excellent, goes aaaaall the way to redline without a problem. Is this something you have encountered and could you help me out? Much love from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Scotty's all time favourite car? Joke of the year. 😂
As I'm familiar these are complex to repair.
Sounds like it is going into engine protection mode when you can't rev it up. Might have to do with a sensor not reading proper oil pressure or vacuum pressure. These alfas are sensitive when it comes to electronics especially.
Hello
I never owned an alta but my neighbor is a mad about them .. has the flag and his car been tweaked every week. I pop over there to pick something ..
He said it could be a problem with the crankshaft sensor as they are known to wear .. worst case it the balancer.. sorry did not know enough ..
Do a good search it a known problem or go to a alfa mechanic and they will know.
One day I will buy one and learn more about how they work and scotty and everyone in here will put a jackass head on me lol.
Good luck.
